Speaking Sound Doctrine

About the Author

This is not the website of a church or some other religious institution but an individual work.  This website's author is simply a Christian: a member of the church of Christ of which we read in the New Testament.  The author is not a degreed Bible scholar nor educated in a seminary.  The conviction here is that such is not necessary or important.  The Bible is everyone's book, not just those intellectually advanced.  Among the writers of scripture, fishermen, such as the apostle Peter, and herdsmen, such as the prophet Amos, understood what God was saying to them, as well as scholarly men, such as Luke, a physician, and Paul, the apostle.  We do not need clergymen, elders, or preachers to tell us the meaning of God's words.

Reason for this Site

This website is born from a simple desire to learn and teach God's word.  The writer's intent is not to state a creed or formulate a list of personal beliefs.  The articles are written to draw the reader to what the Bible says, not what this writer or any other man says.  Let no one stake his faith upon an "I agree with him" mentality.  Examine God's word for yourself and accept nothing else as authoritative.

Sadly, in the church today we see at times a strong decline in standing for sound doctrine.  More and more elders and preachers are attempting to fade clear Bible teachings to gray and validate their doctrines and practices with the mere words of men and human traditions.  Moreover, church members are tolerating it.  In these places, the church is essentially becoming another man-made religious institution, where men convene together to decide and dictate which truths will be defended and which truths will not.

I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:  Preach the word!  Be ready in season and out of season.  Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.  (2 Timothy 4:2, 3)
